A Bad Friend

They are always there, until you do something about it.

I truly, have never known a worse kind of friend. Sometimes you can feel like you have the world in your friends. It is the best feeling to be able to go up to someone, no matter when they came into your life and have that essence of warmth, a kind of togetherness. Chat about anything. Nothing is off the table. That assurance that they will listen, entertain a conversation about that annoying little thought you had is priceless.

And, by no means am I saying that this type of friend is always a bad guy or girl. Legally, everything they do is good. Above board. Allowed…

Some people take it too far with this type of friend. Sometimes they have to take visits to doctors, hospitals and pharmacies to manage the lifestyle they are living. I know some people who have been able to figure out this type of friend early enough in their life to the point they only have to interact with them at parties or other gatherings. Even then, they are still able to keep their distance. If they don’t, it will not be good for them or the people around them.

It is not always easy, because this friend is mostly a good time to be around. They love other people and making connections. They tend to keep their work around crowds. Some people believe in them so much they bring them on stage, often times it doesn’t work out, but this friend has a good time either way.

At the end of the day, it’s a bit of fun. It doesn’t last long. And neither does the memory.

Alcohol is the friend. It is usually something that is ditched early on when discussing healthy dieting. This in no way means no alcohol is the worst of all evils. But more often than not, it is a factor in people’s weekly intake that is 1. The easiest to reduce or remove, or 2. A major concern in the person’s diet and needs immediate attention.

Tom Holland – actor and founder of Beero – said in a podcast (IN THIS CLIP) if alcohol was invented now, the pushback it would receive. I mention this to repeat the idea that alcohol is often the first thing we try and cut down when working toward a healthier week of food and drink intake.

It is not just a calorie count we talk about when drinking alcohol, but the affect it has on our liver, our mind, our sleep, our body. It really does have a huge effect on us and it can lead to fatal consequences.

This is not an life coaching website, nor I or any part of The Move Way says we know the optimal way to live every day. We don’t. I do know healthy living quite well. I do know and have seen alcohol and it’s long term effect on people. It is not an easy thing to watch. It is an awful thing to live through, to be blunt. And I do not wish that on anyone.

And so as much as we can, if you reach out via email or call, we will do our best to help you within our abilities and guide you to the correct professionals. Again, we are not therapists nor a higher being, and so it is our duty to make sure you or the person you are reaching out for is seen by the appropriate professional or group.

That is what is always the worst part about a bad friend at the end of the day. They are still always there. When alcohol is that friend, you and it both know there is no such thing as 1 drink and your done, then it becomes and sometimes stays as a habit that is hard to shake. Our fun drinks and fun foods stay fun when we know we do not get them all the time and we know the restrain we have to put on them.
